PyCon Somalia × Zindi Africa
Served as Team Leader of SomByte (Somali Byte) in the PyCon Somalia 2025 Hackathon under the theme “Combating Food Insecurity in Somalia.” Led the development of a deep learning model (ResNet18/ResNet34) for automatic Fall Armyworm detection in maize leaf images, achieving near-perfect accuracy (AUC ≈ 1.0). The project, conducted from 13 August to 3 September 2025, delivered an AI-powered pest detection solution that supports Somali farmers and promotes sustainable agriculture and food security. Received a Certificate of Appreciation for innovative and impactful use of AI technologies.
University of Bristol
Completed an advanced course in Python Programming and Machine Learning offered by the University of Bristol. The program (May–August 2023) included 14 lectures, practical exercises, and two evaluated assignments focused on real-world machine learning applications. Developed strong analytical and programming skills for applying Python in data-driven projects.
DevTown
Completed the Python for Beginners training program by DevTown, in collaboration with Google and Microsoft. This 7-day hands-on course introduced fundamental programming concepts, logical thinking, and Python syntax. Earned three verified certificates — from DevTown, Google, and Microsoft — recognizing successful completion of the training series.
